ABOUT US
Thompson Brown Renewable Energy develops utility-scale solar and BESS projects in West Texas/ERCOT.
THE ROLE Lead project development from secured sites through NTP. Manage land, permitting, interconnection, offtake, and financing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Execution: Lead solar/BESS from sites to NTP. Manage schedules, budgets, risk registers. Coordinate engineering, legal, finance teams.
Consultant Management: Oversee interconnection, environmental, civil, permitting consultants. Review deliverables. Negotiate contracts. Primary technical reviewer.
Financial Modeling: Build pro forma models. Model offtake/financing scenarios. Sensitivity analyses. Track budgets. Prepare investment materials.
Land Administration: Execute leases, easements, ROW. Manage landowner relationships. Coordinate Phase I/II environmental, geotech, surveys, wetlands, species, cultural studies.
ERCOT Interconnection: Manage screening to IA execution/NTP. Oversee PSSE/PSCAD models. Validate Feasibility/SIS/Facility studies. Coordinate MQT, ERCOT compliance. Negotiate upgrade costs with TOs. Manage RIOO (FIS, QSA, registration), RARF prep. Coordinate reactive power, as-built, plant verification.
Permitting: Lead strategies. Manage consultants. Local permits (zoning, special-use, building), county approvals. State/federal (TCEQ, USACE, FAA). NERC/ERCOT compliance. Track obligations.
NTP Readiness: Coordinate permits, IA, approvals. NTP checklists. Third-party valuations. Documentation. Turnover packages.
Engineering: Manage layout/single-line/design consultants. Review civil/electrical/structural. Geotech studies. Solar-BESS integration. Equipment specs. Validate EPC estimates.
Commercial: Support offtake/PPA strategy. Model merchant/hedge scenarios. Marketing materials. Due diligence support. Market tracking.
Leadership: Build team. Establish processes. Foster excellence.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: 10+ years renewable development, 5+ years ERCOT, 10+ projects to NTP, Solar AND BESS experience, Land/IA/PPA negotiation success.
Skills: Multi-project management, technical review, excel modeling, consultant management, negotiation, communication, economics/valuation, self‑motivated.
Other: Engineering/Business/Finance degree (master’s preferred). Travel 40-50%. West Texas relationships preferred. MS Office/PM software/GIS.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
MBA/JD/technical degree.
Hybrid projects.
Transmission/utility background.
COMPENSATION Base: $150,000/year
Equity:
% ownership at NTP (third‑party appraised). Vests at NTP, participates in sales/financing.
