The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hr rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities General Purpose The Sr Director, Finance leads the overall management and supervision of the University of Rochester’s Medical Center (URMC) Finance Department to direct system-wide consolidated financial reporting, strategic planning initiatives, annual operating and capital budget processes, financial analysis supporting affiliate acquisitions, and the University’s annual wage and salary program. In addition, leads the overall management and supervision of the Health Science Division’s (HSD) financial functions including the creation and adherence to policies and procedures related to financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, forecasting, audits and long-range planning.
Leadership of Financial Reporting and Analysis
Directs the monthly preparation of HSD and URMC system-wide consolidated financial statements ensuring they are prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in an accurate, timely manner for review by various internal and external audiences, including the University of Rochester Medical Center Board Finance and Audit Committees.
Serves as URMC primary liaison with University Controller’s Office related to quarterly financial reporting and annual audits.
Serves as URMC primary liaison with University Sr. AVP for Finance related to UR Board of Trustees and Sr. Leadership reporting.
Oversight of URMC and HSD Budgeting
Directs the URMC annual operating and capital budget processes including the development of assumptions for review by University and URMC leadership, leading to presentation of the consolidated budgets for Board approval.
Directs the HSD annual operating and capital budget process, ensuring key deadlines are met.
Provides financial oversight to the University’s annual wage and salary program.
System Integration
Directs URMC system-wide long-range cash forecasting, detailing capital expenditure affordability while maintaining desired cash position.
Provides oversight of affiliates’ year-end audits by external auditors.
Monitors compliance with respect to internal and external financial reporting requirements including relevant changes in accounting standards.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
10 years of relevant higher education in health care finance or accounting including 5 years of supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
