Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) – Critical Care Float Pool Travel Nursing Job in San Diego, CA

We are hiring an experienced Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) for an 18-week travel nursing assignment in the Critical Care Float Pool. Travel Nursing Job Details
Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $2,370 - $2,540
Assignment Length: 18 weeks (October 27, 2025 – March 2, 2026)
Location: San Diego, CA 92123
Setting: Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool (PICU, CTICU, NICU)
Shift: 3x12-hour rotating shifts (days: 07:00–19:00, nights: 19:00–07:00)
Hours per Week: 36
Weekend Coverage: 4-5 weekend day shifts (Sat‑Sun) and 5-6 weekend night shifts (Fri‑Sat) per 4‑week schedule; one full weekend off every 4 weeks
On‑call: As needed
Orientation: 12 hours (plus up to 10 hours of non‑billable modules completed pre‑start)
Parking: Free traveler parking
Scrub Color: Any color
Pediatric RN Job Requirements
Minimum 2 years of recent PICU experience or strong CVICU background with float pool experience
Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license (in hand or proof of application)
BLS and PALS certifications required
Epic EMR charting experience
Travel nursing or prior float pool experience preferred
Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
Must be willing to work 2 out of 3 holidays (including eves)
Maximum 6 days of requested time off (RTO); must work 3 shifts per week
Pediatric Nurse Responsibilities
Float between PICU, CTICU, and NICU units, delivering care to neonates, infants, adolescents, and pediatric patients
Provide advanced nursing care for patients with congenital/acquired heart disease, ECMO, heart/lung conditions, and post‑transplant needs
Administer blood products, manage arterial/central lines, ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP, and perform procedural sedation
Monitor and interpret ABGs, dysrhythmias, and hemodynamic parameters
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response
Maintain infection control standards and ensure safe, compassionate patient care
Document all care accurately using Epic EMR
Participate in orientation and complete all required modules prior to start date
