Job Title: Physician – Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences – Comprehensive Ophthalmologist (Open Rank/Track Faculty) at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center.
Position Overview The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at The Ohio State University seeks a full‑time comprehensive ophthalmologist to provide clinical care, conduct research, and contribute to education. The successful candidate will join a growing practice with state‑of‑the‑art facilities and a commitment to high‑quality patient care.
Department/Division Overview The Ohio State University is one of the largest universities in the country. The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences has over 100 years of history and is home to the Hawver Eye Institute with on‑site outpatient surgical centers and advanced equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities As a faculty member, you will:
Provide comprehensive ophthalmic patient care in a clinical setting, with or without trainee involvement.
Engage in teaching, including clinical and didactic instruction for medical students, residents, fellows, and other trainees.
Participate in research, quality improvement, curriculum development, and other scholarly activities consistent with your faculty assignment.
Serve on departmental, divisional, and college committees and participate in professional organizations.
Support the academic mission of the department through teaching, research, and service.
Requirements
U.S. citizenship is required for this role due to contractual agreements with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Board‑eligible or board‑certified in Ophthalmology by the time of appointment and eligible for licensure in Ohio.
MD or DO degree with completion of an approved ophthalmology residency program.
Knowledge and proficiency in medical and surgical management of comprehensive ophthalmology.
Demonstrated interest in scholarship, evidenced by basic and/or clinical applied research and publications.
Commitment to teaching residents, fellows, and medical students.
Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with experience and credentials.
