Job Summary
Involves the provision of integrated and accessible primary and specialty patient care services in a clinic or center environment. Care is provided by clinicians and assistants who are accountable for addressing a large majority of personal health care needs and developing a sustainable partnership with patients. Ensures optimal patient outcomes through effective leadership and/or provision of patient care delivery in healthcare clinics or centers. Promotes shared decision‑making at all levels to ensure a shared voice in practices, exchange of ideas, enhanced communication, and continually improved patient services. Management levels may also be responsible for clinic operations. (Note, when primary focus is clinical operations, see Ambulatory Administration job function.)
Location & Compensation Dermatology Surgery Clinic – Mount Zion, San Francisco, CA Full‑time Salary range: $191,800 – $256,600 (annual rate)
Department Description The dermatology practices at UCSF Medical Center are regional centers offering a broad spectrum of diagnostic and treatment services for patients of all ages with cutaneous problems. We provide the most comprehensive skin cancer treatment program in Northern California, are the region’s only vascular anomalies center, and provide a complete psoriasis treatment program. The Dermatology Clinic offers a wide range of treatments for skin problems, including acne, autoimmune and connective tissue disease, HIV‑related skin disorders, moles, atypical nevi, melanoma surveillance, disorders of cornification, pigmented disorders, environmental dermatitis, rosacea, hair and nail disorders, wound and ulcer care, human papillomavirus (HPV). Procedures performed include biopsies, incisions, Mohs surgery, and cosmetic procedures.
Required Qualifications
Experience with ambulatory care clinical practices.
Experience using EMR‑EPIC/APeX.
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Business, Healthcare Administration or related area and/or equivalent combination of experience/training.
Strong clinic/center patient care management skills; practice management knowledge in scheduling, customer‑service methods, regulatory compliance, accreditation requirements, and/or information technology.
Strong interpersonal skills to create and maintain effective communication and collaborative decision‑making.
Strong leadership, fiscal, and operations management skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, management, and staff from all disciplines.
Strong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document HR issues and performance, and to participate in decision‑making on HR matters.
Demonstrated knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, including related legislative, accreditation, licensing, and compliance environments.
Proven ability to organize, manage multiple priorities, and delegate work functions efficiently.
Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions.
Knowledge of relevant healthcare information technology and patient care workflows and processes.
Broad knowledge of patient population served and the requirements for the delivery of services.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum 1–3 years of supervisory experience in an outpatient clinic familiar with dermatology diseases.
Master’s degree in Nursing, Business, Healthcare Administration or related area and/or equivalent combination of experience/training.
License/Certification
Registered Nurse in the State of California.
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Business, Healthcare Administration or related area and/or equivalent combination of experience/training.
AHA CPR certification.
