We are currently seeking a Legal Counsel, IP to join our team in Beverly Hills. This individual will support intellectual property matters across Regent’s global portfolio of companies. The role will focus on managing and protecting our intellectual property assets, including trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and licensing. The position is in‑office.
Responsibilities
Oversee intellectual property strategy, protection, and enforcement for Regent and its portfolio companies.
Manage trademark and copyright portfolios, including filings, renewals, oppositions, and global coordination with outside counsel.
Advise on IP issues in connection with M&A, joint ventures, licensing, and other commercial transactions.
Partner with portfolio company leadership and business teams to identify, register, and safeguard valuable IP assets.
Support the negotiation and drafting of IP‑related agreements, including licenses, assignments, NDAs, and technology development agreements.
Oversee enforcement actions against infringing parties, including cease‑and‑desist letters, take‑downs, and coordination with outside counsel.
Advise on brand protection initiatives, domain name strategy, and online enforcement.
Work closely with internal teams on IP risk assessments, audits, and compliance programs.
Support technology‑related initiatives, including software licensing, data ownership, and proprietary technology development.
Coordinate with litigation counsel on IP‑related disputes and claims.
Monitor global IP trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure proactive protection across the Regent portfolio.
Maintain IP tracking systems, databases, and reporting for internal stakeholders.
Provide regular updates to senior leadership on key IP matters and strategy.
Requirements
JD from an accredited law school.
Admission to the California Bar.
4–7 years of intellectual property experience at a law firm and/or in‑house legal department.
Strong foundation in trademark, copyright, trade secret, and IP licensing matters.
Experience managing global IP portfolios and working with multiple jurisdictions.
Familiarity with IP issues in M&A and commercial contracts.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and project management abilities.
Business‑oriented mindset with the ability to balance legal risk and commercial objectives.
Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Compensation For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in California, Regent provides a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. This accounts for the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to business or organizational needs, skill sets, experience and training, licensure, and certifications.
A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range is $250,000 to $300,000 per year.
