We are seeking a professional to join our Payer Partnerships team as the Director of Payer Contracting and Strategy. The Payer Partnerships team manages a $8B commercial revenue portfolio and a high-growth national integrated care business that encompasses more than $5B of medical spend. This role is highly motivated, fast‑paced and involves extensive experience in negotiations, managed care, finance and consulting.
Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of >100 payor relationships and contracts and execute on DaVita and Payer Partnerships team strategy with regard to portfolio growth, yield, payor relations, and value‑based care.
Build relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders, internal and external, including operations, legal, collections, and business development.
Develop complex financial proposals to support overall relationship and business objectives.
Lead payer negotiations, including new contract negotiations, renegotiations, and termination/expiration events.
Develop creative solutions to overcome barriers in negotiations particularly around proposal development, economics, and contract language drafting.
Serve as a highly visible partner and primary liaison and thought partner to dialysis facility operations leaders.
Support business development efforts including creation of presentation materials.
Assist in shaping DaVita’s go‑forward strategy within the evolving health care landscape.
Effectively manage and oversee the implementation process of contracts.
Create presentation and communication materials appropriate for senior executive audiences.
Serve as escalation point for any payor‑related issues including collections, credentialing, and implementation.
Organize payor meetings/joint operating committees to discuss clinical outcomes, DaVita’s value proposition, and partnership opportunities.
Directly manage a contract manager that will support you in the management of your payor portfolio.
Minimum Qualifications
5-7 years minimum work experience in complex deal execution and relationship management in healthcare.
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Preference for leaders with a competitive spirit and sophisticated understanding of negotiation.
Demonstrated interpersonal, collaborative, and relationship‑building skills.
Demonstrated strengths in critical thinking, analytics, and innovative problem‑solving skills.
High impact oral and written communication style.
Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities in a fast‑paced, ever‑changing environment.
Advanced proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Healthcare experience a plus, particularly in managed care.
Available for some travel (up to 20%).
