Conservation Colorado is seeking a Communications Manager to support the creation of high-impact communications that move people to action and elevates our mission across the state.

Qualifications This position is a great opportunity to lead on a communications team dedicated to delivering content that motivates action, moves decision makers, and contributes to real progress on major issues. The ideal candidate demonstrates flexibility, results-focused work, and efficiency. Strong writing, content creation and editing skills in a political, issue-advocacy environment are essential. Specifically, you will have or be most or all of the following:

Strong advocacy writing & editing skills with experience creating high-impact, issue-based, advocacy communications (email, social media, news releases, etc.) that move people to act.

Experience editing others\' work and maintaining standards in grammar and syntax (AP style), ensuring content is culturally appropriate and aligned with the organization\'s voice and goals.

Strong people manager with the ability to build a collaborative, accountable team, and a focus on skills development and growth.

Demonstrated project management skills in a fast-paced environment, including leading large-scale, multi-stakeholder projects, coordinating across teams, managing contributors, and ensuring timely delivery.

Creativity & Innovation to bring fresh perspectives, communicate complex policy issues, and motivate action.

Spanish/English bilingual is valued but not required (one team member focuses on bilingual content).

Full-time role with some schedule flexibility.

Compensation and Benefits The salary range for this full-time role is $82,000 - $92,000, with exact salary depending on relevant experience and demonstrated competencies. We offer competitive pay and benefits rooted in equity, transparency, and trust, and do not ask for prior salary history.

Benefits include high-quality health insurance, a SIMPLE IRA retirement plan with a match, at least 30 days of vacation & holidays in addition to six wellness days in your first year, parental leave, and a sabbatical program. As a 501(c)(4) nonprofit, employees are not eligible for the Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.

All Conservation Colorado roles involve some in-person work, so COVID vaccination is required. We have a flexible hybrid model; teams determine in coordination with managers what makes sense based on role and preference. Some team members may work from the office full-time.

What Youll Do This position reports to the VP of Communications & Marketing and supports the VP to advance the organization\'s goals by creating compelling, action-inspiring content, whether it\'s emails that mobilize, press releases that generate media attention, or factsheets that educate decision-makers and secondary audiences, and by supporting a team of content creators.

Team Management (35%)

Manage a high-performing team that delivers results in an equitable, collaborative, transparent manner.

Promote a culture of high performance and accountability, with a focus on continuous improvement and quality.

Develop staff through a supportive, collaborative approach aligned with organizational values.

Support the VP in quarterly planning, budget development, internal coordination and meeting facilitation.

Campaign Content Creation, Messaging, and Management (35%)

Craft bold, action-driven content for your portfolio and edit all campaign communications to ensure clarity, accessibility, cultural competence, and alignment with Conservation Colorado\'s values and campaign strategy.

Track environmental and political developments to shape timely, resonant messages that mobilize diverse audiences and drive action.

Strategic Communications & Brand Management (30%)

Track & report on relevant metrics to inform strategic decisions and coordinate with internal teams to ensure effective and consistent use of communication tools.

Manage the organization\'s online presence by coordinating content strategy to increase supporter engagement and campaign effectiveness across social, digital, and website channels.

Coordinate major organizational projects by overseeing content creation and editing, and manage key print and digital marketing materials to ensure consistent messaging and brand standards.

In addition to regular responsibilities, all staff are expected to participate in organizational priorities, including fundraising efforts, election-related activities, and commitments to equity & inclusivity.
