Systems Engineer, Pressurized Lunar Rover

to join our JETS II contract team at

NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX .

Responsibilities

Lead interdisciplinary teams through all phases of the Systems Engineering "V" model. Coordinate technical activities to anticipate and resolve issues, optimize requirements, and develop robust design solutions. Identify and manage technical risks; develop mitigation strategies and assess resource needs. Serve as backup to the System Manager (SM), ensuring continuity of leadership and technical oversight. Support the SM in coordinating and covering all Landing and Recovery System (LRS) meetings and tasks. Provide oversight of contractor teams working on Orion systems, as directed by the SM. Assist in integration efforts between NASA and Prime Contractor teams for the landing system. Review, develop, and approve specifications, Interface Requirements Documents (IRDs), and Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for subsystems including LRS, Mechanisms, Structures, GN&C, Pyrotechnics, and Propulsion. Review and approve verification plans and reports to ensure compliance with system requirements. Collaborate with Orion and Exploration Ground Systems (EGS) to support post-landing and recovery activities for the Crew Service Module (CSM) from an engineering technical authority perspective.

Qualifications

This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate\'s experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised. Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor\'s degree in Engineering and normally possess 5-10 years of related experience. Bachelor\'s degree in engineering from an accredited institution. 5-10 years of experience in systems engineering and vehicle integration. Proven experience in system architecture, requirements development, design trades, risk analysis, and space hardware systems analysis. Experience with certification of human spaceflight hardware. Strong understanding of risk management and testing methodologies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work both collaboratively and independently. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and SharePoint. Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and requirements management platforms (e.g., Jama, IBM DOORS, DOORS Next Gen).

Preferred Qualifications

Experience delivering spaceflight hardware for operational missions. Working knowledge of NASA, JSC, and ISS engineering standards and practices, including safety and fault tolerance. Familiarity with NASA/JSC documentation systems and SharePoint environments. Prior experience participating in or supporting program-level review boards.
