As a
Software Development in Test Engineer
within DEEP&T, you will touch the lives of Disney fans around the world, working on innovative digital products and platforms across Disney, ESPN, National Geographic, ABC, Marvel, Star Wars, and more. You will be a contributor on the Quality Engineering team, whose primary goal is to continually improve product quality while reducing time-to-market and enabling innovation. This role makes you a stakeholder in every digital property developed and released by the DEEP&T group, as well as the platforms and enterprise applications that power them.
You will be an integral part of a small group of talented engineers dedicated to building infrastructure, tools, reports, and services that enable product engineering teams to deliver Disney digital applications with the quality and reliability guests expect.
When these systems work as intended, they drive better customer experiences, increase trust in our platform, and reduce costs from production bugs. As an
SDET , you will strengthen test automation strategies, lead quality initiatives, and champion engineering excellence. Responsibilities
Work closely with Software Engineers to understand the complex ecosystem in place at DEEP&T Develop automated test frameworks and suites on UI, API and Integration levels using Java, Python or other OO language Participate in design discussions to evolve the platform for richer testing scenarios that simplify defect detection and prevention Assist with triage, diagnosis, and resolution of issues discovered across teams Contribute to end-to-end acceptance tests Where necessary, develop and execute manual test cases to detect issues not covered by automation Drive the conversion of manual tests to automated tests whenever possible Develop and support high-quality code to build and enhance automation, quality infrastructure, and innovative proof-of-concepts Investigate and troubleshoot issues across services and drive them to resolution Contribute to the development and maintenance of infrastructure, frameworks, and pipelines that verify backend services and APIs across multiple products
Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or closely related technical field, or equivalent years of professional experience 3 years of relevant experience in a software development (SDET, SE, SRE) role, including automated and/or unit testing of front-end and/or back-end services Experience working with high-performing teams using Agile and Lean methodologies Experience with SDLC tools such as Jira and Confluence, and version control systems; excellent collaboration skills
Additional Qualifications Experience shipping production Python, Flask, Django, React, or Node.js applications Experience deploying applications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and optimizing cost efficiency Experience with Kafka, Amazon SQS, and Kinesis Experience writing Gherkin Syntax for automated test scenarios Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Spinnaker, and CI/CD systems Experience with testcase/issue management (e.g., JIRA, Xray), code management (e.g., Git, SonarQube), and data visualization tools (e.g., Grafana, DataDog)
Compensation and Benefits
The hiring range for this position in Santa Monica/Glendale/LA, California is $95,300.00 - $127,800.00; and the hiring range in San Francisco, California is $104,400.00 - $140,000.00 per year. The base pay may vary by geographic region, knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
