Professor of Global Public Policy and Director of the Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future, Pardee School of Global Studies Boston University invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of professor in the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies. The appointment is to begin July 1, 2026, with tenure. Responsibilities
The Center Director oversees the operations and activities of the Pardee Center, including research affiliates, research seminars, the summer graduate fellows program, and supervision of staff. The Director is expected to participate in fundraising activities for the School and the Pardee Center. In addition to leading the work of the Center, the successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in their area(s) of functional expertise and will advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate MA students. The Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future is an interdisciplinary research center of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University. It was established in 2000 to advance scholarship on globally important issues affecting the human condition over extended time horizons. The Center conducts interdisciplinary research to improve public decision-making and policy and to train future generations of interdisciplinary scholars. Boston University seeks scholars who contribute to a community of teachers and researchers through excellence in innovative scholarship, engaged teaching, and participation in the intellectual life of the University. Successful candidates should demonstrate potential for excellence in any discipline relevant to international affairs, broadly understood, and share a commitment to the Pardee School’s institutional values and to advancing human progress. A demonstrated record of interdisciplinary research addressing globally important issues with increasing global relevance—such as climate change, environmental degradation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, technology futures, governance, and/or human security—is sought.
