Locums - Coos Bay, Oregon NP/PA Orthopedics Opening

Availability

  • Start Date: ASAP/ASAC - Required

  • Schedule: 4x10 or 5x8 hour shifts

  • Call: 1-2 nights per week and every 3rd weekend

  • Weekend Requirements: Yes

  • On-Call Requirements: Yes (nights and weekends)

  • Full-Time Availability: Required

Clinical Role

In collaboration with the attending physician, the NP/PA will:

  • Prepare and record patient history

  • Develop and implement plans of care

  • Participate in daily rounds and document findings

  • Utilize EMR for order entry and documentation

  • Respond to coding and documentation queries

  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounding, and quality/safety initiatives

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Order and perform diagnostic studies (EMG, EKG, compartment pressure, x-rays, CT, MRI, bone scans, etc.)

  • Perform procedures such as:

  • Digital blocks and regional anesthesia

  • Minor outpatient surgeries (tendon repair, wound closure, wound management, debridement, I&D, needle biopsy, pin/hardware removal)

  • Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures:

  • Joint/bursa aspirations, fracture/dislocation reductions, injections (joints, tendons, trigger points, bursa), brace/cast/splint applications

  • Assist in surgeries (first assist, closures, appliance application, delegated surgical tasks)

  • Conduct hospital rounds, write orders, and support orthopedic surgeons

  • Serve as primary orthopedic call provider for Hospital (ED and inpatient units)

  • Participate in shared call schedule with other NPs/PAs

  • Rotate holiday, weekend, and night coverage

    Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient in EMR documentation, assessment, and care management

  • Able to multitask while providing patient care

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and perform effectively in high-pressure or emergent situations

    Requirements

  • Board Certified - Required

  • Oregon License - Required

  • NPDB Self Query - Required at time of submission

  • Meets criteria for Medical Staff or Allied Health Professional membership and privileges
