Position Summary : The SOM Clinical Research Alliance manages the ACTG Leadership and Operations Center (LOC) and collaborates with NIH institutes and industry partners to advance therapeutics in HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and viral hepatitis. The Finance Manager provides leadership, oversight and support of fiscal activities for the ACTG LOC, including comprehensive financial planning, budgeting, grant financial and regulatory compliance, contracts and subawards, and supervision of financial staff. The incumbent independently manages post-award finance and grants, negotiates subcontracts, oversees expenditures and fund closeouts, and implements policies to maximize efficiency. The role requires interaction with investigators, sponsor and institutional requirements, and UNC systems knowledge to address grant requirements. The position supports staff development to foster an agile team for ongoing and new ventures.
Minimum Education and Experience Mid- to late-career with Masters and 2-4 years of experience; or Bachelors and 3-5 years of experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Excellent verbal, analytical/quantitative, and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of business, finance, accounting and grant administration.
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel/Access/Word/PowerPoint.
Ability to independently create, analyze and manipulate complex spreadsheets.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
5 years in related work experience.
Experience in an academic medical center or university preferred.
Working knowledge of university and funding agency policies on grant administration.
Working knowledge of medical terminology.
Special Instructions Monday - Friday: 8am - 5pm. Hybrid Schedule: 3 days in office (Tue, Wed, Thurs) and 2 days work from home (Mon, Fri).
