The Security Analyst will enhance and maintain DJJ’s cybersecurity posture for the State of Florida by identifying vulnerabilities, implementing industry best practices, and ensuring compliance across systems and applications. The consultant will monitor and respond to security events, assess risks, coordinate remediation with IT and security teams, produce regular security and compliance reports, and provide technical recommendations to improve overall security maturity. The role requires hands‑on experience with SIEM, endpoint protection, vulnerability scanning, network security controls, and familiarity with CJIS/NIST/HIPAA/ISO standards.
Responsibilities
Identify, analyze, and respond to cybersecurity threats, incidents, and vulnerabilities.
Assess risks and continuously monitor systems for potential breaches and suspicious activity.
Implement and maintain security controls (firewalls, endpoint protection, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, SIEM).
Monitor security alerts in real time and coordinate incident response with internal and external stakeholders.
Produce regular vulnerability and compliance reports, and document remediation plans.
Work with DJJ network staff, application development teams, regional staff, data centers, program areas, and external criminal justice partners.
Provide recommendations and implement improved cybersecurity controls and practices.
Provide after‑hours/on‑call incident response support as required.
Maintain up‑to‑date threat intelligence awareness and apply findings to strengthen defenses.
Deliver knowledge transfer and documentation for handoffs and audits.
Required / Preferred Skills & Experience
Advanced experience in incident response, risk analysis, and vulnerability management. Required (advanced)
Familiarity and working knowledge of compliance frameworks: CJIS, NIST, ISO 27001, HIPAA. Required
Hands‑on experience with SIEM tools, endpoint protection, firewalls, and vulnerability scanners. Required
Knowledge of network security architecture, protocols, and secure configuration. Required
Scripting and automation skills for security tasks and processes. Required
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills. Required
Availability for after‑hours incident response when needed. Required
Experience coordinating with criminal justice partners and regional data centers. Preferred
