Role Summary As an Area Human Resource Manager, you will oversee HR policies, procedures, and programs for 30 plus First Student locations in the Upstate New York region. This hybrid role requires residence in Upstate New York with weekly travel to Albany, Syracuse, Rochester, and surrounding locations.

Job Responsibilities

Resolve employee issues, provide feedback, and report employee morale to the Director of Human Resources.

Recommend planning and development initiatives; assist with employment, training, employee relations, labor relations, and compensation.

Maintain favorable and effective employee and labor relations across the region.

Ensure compliance with corporate and area HR policies and legal regulations.

Lead dispute resolution, labor contract administration, and policy implementation.

Conduct training programs covering performance appraisals, interviewing, employee relations, and employment law.

Oversee program implementation and monitor results.

Visit locations regularly and serve as recruiting coordinator for the region.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

At least five years of HR experience, including recruiting, compensation, organizational planning, employee and labor relations, and training/development.

Experience with multi‑facility operations.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Computer literate.

Travel required up to 50% of the time.
