As the Grocery Fourth/Person In Charge (PIC) you are the primary contact for customers, providing friendly, courteous, and helpful service. During the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Managers, the PIC leads the store with equivalent authority to make necessary decisions to operate at maximum profit, efficiency, and superior customer service. The PIC also supervises store employees, acts as a Cashier‑Checker, and may work in various departments within the store. Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Provide customer service per company policies. Appropriately handle emergencies, customer complaints, and accidents; supervise all store personnel. Maintain familiarity with company policies and procedures. Supervise the sales floor to monitor service and product replenishment. Replace stock in displays around the checkout area. Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Assist other cashiers with computer, register, and scanner issues. Perform basic office functions to assist customers and personnel. Operate electronic scanning cash register to total customers’ bills. Receive payment, count change accurately. Bag groceries, lift bags into carts, and offer carry‑out assistance. Complete close‑of‑day functions in the office as needed. Count stock and balance tills when necessary. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Related Qualifications
Ability to follow customer service procedures; prior customer service experience preferred. Ability to interact with customers and co‑workers. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Knowledge of all store positions. Ability to work independently. Desired: Prior experience as a clerk or manager. Supervisory Responsibilities
All store employees in the absence of the Store Director or Assistant Store Director. Permits / Licenses
Varies depending on store location and state/county requirements. Work Environment
