Position Highlights Alliant Insurance is hiring a Senior Database Administrator for our Omaha office!

Hybrid role working 3 days in office, 2 days remote

Monday - Thursday 7:30 - 4:30, Friday 7:30 - 2:00.

Office location: 8420 W Dodge Rd, Omaha, NE 68114

Summary Responsible for developing and supporting the design, implementation, and administration of database needs for the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Troubleshoots issues to full resolution and provides detailed updates to management.

Creates new databases or designs database structures for new systems.

Implements database maintenance best practices including index rebuilds, distribution statistics, and database consistency checks.

Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.

Experience with data Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) methodologies including Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).

Performs database performance tuning activities such as analyzing SQL server query plans, index tuning, troubleshooting database blocking, and resolving deadlocks using SQL Profiler and Windows Performance Monitor.

Creates and manages multiple databases and assists in capacity planning.

Monitors and maintains database systems and troubleshoots problems that may arise.

Maintains data integrity and security.

Executes backups, recovery and recovery testing, and verification.

Develops strategies and implements solutions for managing back-ups, restoration and replication.

Supports software developers with database operations including the development of complex SQL, tuning of DML and the creation of stored procedures.

Proactive housekeeping/archiving and shrinking of databases.

Recommends improvements to database security measures to prevent unauthorized access or misuse of data.

Designs and implements data storage structures such as tables and indexes to improve performance of database applications.

Provides technical support for an organization's database applications by answering user questions about database structure or function.

Mentors and cross trains other team members.

Qualifications Education / Experience

Bachelor's Degree in computer related field or equivalent work experience

Master's Degree preferred

Eight (8) or more years of experience in Database Administration (SQL Server)

Five (5) or more years of experience in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)

Five (5) or more years of experience in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)

Microsoft Certifications

Skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Excellent conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong knowledge of database security best practices

Ability to work within a team and to foster teamwork

Proficient in Microsoft Office products

Strong working knowledge of complex computing management systems including system administration, performance monitoring, problem management, change management, records management, and disaster prevention and recovery

Data warehousing, data modeling, and business intelligence knowledge a plus

Snowflake experience a plus

Data Analyst experience a plus
