Job Summary The Electronic Equipment Assembler and Tester is responsible for inspection, assembly, and testing of electrical and electronic sub‑assemblies, units, and systems. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting instructions, filling reports, and monitoring equipment during burn‑in processes.
Responsibilities
Assemble materials and components for electronic and electrical systems.
Read and interpret drawings, diagrams, specifications, and work orders.
Inspect wiring installations, assemblies, and circuits.
Assemble electrical or electronic units, sub‑assemblies, wiring, and casing components.
Test products to ensure conformance to specifications.
Perform manual assembly, fabrication or modification of parts using shop equipment.
Populate or modify printed circuit board assemblies.
Crimp, stitch, screw, solder, press fit, or perform similar operations to join or secure parts.
Install finished assemblies or sub‑assemblies in enclosures.
Attach hardware to assemblies.
Tend and monitor test fixtures and electronic testing equipment.
Perform online go‑not‑go testing and inspection with magnifying devices and test equipment.
Verify work performed by oneself and peers.
Audit kits for shortages and provide status updates.
Perform routine cycle counts on work‑in‑process (WIP) inventory.
Pull parts/kits from the stockroom for WIP.
Requirements
Education:
High School diploma or GED plus a minimum of two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals, write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively with co‑workers and engineering/management staff.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
Apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
Tools Used Digital multimeters, cordless screwdrivers (Phillips head), wire strippers, crimpers, cable cutters, pin extraction tool, electronic cutters, pliers, angled long‑nose pliers, solder station, desoldering tools, antistatic devices.
Abilities
Near vision – precise detail observation at close range.
Finger dexterity – coordinated movements of fingers to manipulate small objects.
Oral comprehension – understand spoken information.
Arm–hand steadiness – maintain steadiness during manual tasks.
Manual dexterity – quick manipulation of hand and arm to assemble objects.
