Contract SEO & GEO Manager – Customer Success Content (Performance Marketing)
Base pay range $78.00/hr - $83.00/hr
We are seeking a highly skilled SEO & GEO Manager to join the Performance Marketing Team as a contractor. This is a critical, high-impact individual contributor role responsible for driving the strategy and execution of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) for Customer Success support content and sites.
While this role sits within Performance Marketing, your core mission is to optimize the self‑service funnel, ensuring customers can find timely, accurate support information through organic search and new AI‑powered experiences. You will leverage deep technical SEO and performance analysis to maximize traffic efficiency, drive self‑serve resolution, and contribute to significant customer support deflection savings (ROI).
You will serve as the key subject matter expert for SEO/GEO, developing and implementing a roadmap that increases relevant organic traffic, engagement, and content utilization. This requires an expert‑level, data‑driven approach, a strong focus on measurable business outcomes, and exceptional cross‑functional partnership with the Customer Success organization.
Key Responsibilities Performance-Driven Search & GEO Strategy
Own the holistic SEO/GEO performance strategy for Customer Success support content, treating it as a critical component of the conversion and retention funnel.
Develop and implement strategies to ensure support content effectively surfaces in both traditional search engines and AI‑powered generative search results (GEO) to drive self‑serve resolution and efficiency.
Conduct deep‑dive keyword research, competitive analysis, and technical audits to identify high‑leverage opportunities for traffic growth, improved customer experience, and increased ROI.
Analyze search campaign performance and user behavior using internal and external data sources (e.g., Google Search Console, Adobe Analytics) to derive marketing insights and make recommendations to improve key performance indicators (KPIs) like organic traffic, content engagement, and support ticket deflection rates.
Design, execute, and analyze A/B tests and experiments related to on‑page optimization and technical SEO, specifically aiming for improved SERP visibility and funnel efficiency.
Partner closely with leaders across the Customer Success, Product, and Content teams to ensure support content, site architecture, and structured data are fully optimized for search and AI compatibility (e.g., schema, knowledge graphs).
Optimize site architecture, metadata, and internal linking to maximize content discoverability and reduce customer friction.
Lead best practices for multilingual and localized content SEO/GEO, ensuring global consistency and local relevance.
Serve as the subject matter expert for SEO/GEO, evangelizing best practices and presenting strategic concepts, plans, and points‑of‑view to stakeholders across Performance Marketing and Customer Success.
What You’ll Bring
4+ years of direct SEO experience with a proven track record of improving organic performance for large, complex websites or content ecosystems.
Deep expertise in SEO technical fundamentals (structured data, crawling, indexing, site performance, taxonomy) and a strong understanding of how to implement recommendations.
A strong performance marketing/ROI mindset is essential; ability to analyze and report on business outcomes (e.g., cost savings from deflection) driven by SEO.
Demonstrated understanding of Generative AI search behavior and emerging GEO practices.
Experience optimizing content for customer support, self‑service, or knowledge base environments is highly desirable.
Fluency in major SEO/GEO and analytics tools (e.g., Google Search Console, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Adobe Analytics, BrightEdge).
Exceptional cross‑functional collaboration skills and the ability to influence product, engineering, and content teams to align on a shared roadmap.
