Overview
KBR's National Security Solutions team provides high-end engineering and advanced technology solutions to our customers in the intelligence and national security communities. In this position, your work will have a profound impact on national security. The role involves orbit analysis, orbital engineering tasks, and supporting launch operations in a space defense context. Responsibilities
Orbit Analysis: Performing orbit analysis, orbital determination and analysis functions. Satellite Contacts: Generating and providing daily orbital data to execute satellite contacts. Sensor Coverage and Telemetry Collection: Supporting launch operations with sensor coverage and telemetry planning, including link margin analysis, predicting trajectory and estimating the final orbit. Ensuring Mission Success: Participating in program-to-customer interface requirements to help ensure program and customer mission success. Interfacing with Customers: Communicating with external customers to maintain tracking station data, obscura, and Transmit Inhibit Zone data. Testing Efforts: Participating in testing of newly upgraded tracking stations. Educating Customers: Participating in customer education of basic astrodynamics. Software and Hardware Upgrades: Supporting and performing OA software and hardware upgrades to automate OA functions for daily activities and launch support. Work Environment: Location on-site with minimal travel; standard 40-hour work week; 24/7 on-call possible shifts during launch operations. Qualifications
Required: Clearance TS/SCI with a Polygraph. Education: Undergraduate degree in related field. Experience: 3 years of orbital mechanics experience. Time Management: Ability to manage multiple milestones across calendars and schedules. Process: Ability to create and follow standard processes and document results. Problem Solving: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with application of technical standards, theories, concepts, and techniques. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interface effectively with users, customers, management, and other engineering personnel. Scheduling: Ability to occasionally work odd or extended hours covering a 24/7 period, particularly during launch operations. Desired: Knowledge of orbital propagation and perturbations, orbit estimation, orbital maneuvers, modeling and simulation, and analysis; STK, ODTK, Matlab and other COTS products; experience in modeling, simulation and analysis of orbital maneuvers; project life cycle experience; understanding customer products; operational procedures; communications topologies; satellite command and control theories and methodologies.
