Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University’s College of Business seeks a dedicated Undergraduate Academic Advisor to support student success in business degree programs. The Advisor will provide proactive, informed, and compassionate guidance to undergraduate students, helping them navigate course selection, degree planning, transfer pathways, and other academic decisions.
Responsibilities
Maintain current knowledge of the College’s programs and requirements.
Advise students on courses, degree requirements, and transfer pathways.
Inform students of alternative options, limitations, and possible consequences of academic decisions (e.g., adding, dropping, withdrawing, changing majors).
Educate students about course planning and registration processes; refer to available resources for career and personal development.
Make referrals for at‑risk students and advocate as appropriate.
Develop and maintain operating procedures to minimize errors.
Monitor academic plans to provide timely, proactive outreach ensuring degree progress and timely graduation.
Support student degree progress, academic success, and retention in alignment with the university’s strategic goals.
Participate in recruitment and onboarding activities for on‑ and off‑campus events and orientation programs.
Engage in professional development and stay current with technology used in advising services.
Perform other duties required to support the academic mission of the college.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field.
Up to one year of advising or related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Higher education experience in admissions or academic advising.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage effectively with students.
Track record of successfully navigating professional environments.
Exceptional organizational skills.
Salary $55,000 per year.
Location Boca Raton, FL
Work Days and Hours Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM; occasional weeknights and weekends as required.
