Inside Higher Ed
Job Description
The University of Florida (UF) has significant breadth and depth in neuroscience research including neuro‑ and neuromuscular imaging, movement disorders, spinal cord injury, stroke, neurodegenerative diseases, and neurorehabilitation.
UF seeks up to three full‑time (1.0 FTE), 12‑month tenured or tenure‑track open‑rank faculty positions in biostatistics and epidemiology under the Neuroscience Initiative. Faculty will serve as neuroscience principal investigators and collaborators, conducting epidemiological, clinical epidemiology, or biostatistical studies relevant to neuroscience.
Examples of research themes include genetics of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease; risk factors for poor neurodevelopment in children; neuroprevention; effects of exposures such as cannabis on neurocognition; social determinants of health on late‑life cognitive trajectories; rehabilitation for neurological disorders; modeling of neuroimaging data; and integration of genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and imaging data. A collaborative infrastructure exists across UF with departments of Clinical and Health Psychology, Neurology, Neuroscience, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, the McKnight Brain Institute, and the Florida Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. Faculty will contribute both collaboratively and independently to externally funded research, be principal investigators of extramurally funded projects, and teach courses within the Biostatistics or Epidemiology departments, as well as support public health programs.
Service through student mentorship and committee work is expected.
UF provides research and teaching support through a college‑level research core and instructional design team. Departments
UF Biostatistics
- Faculty pursue independent and collaborative research, teach in the MS and PhD in Biostatistics programs, and support a concentration in Biostatistics as part of the Master of Public Health program.
The department emphasizes artificial intelligence, big data analysis, genetics, infectious disease modeling, image processing, metabolomics, survival analysis, causal inference, and large‑scale data methods. UF Epidemiology
- Faculty are jointly appointed in the College of Public Health and the College of Medicine, offering PhD and MS in Epidemiology, an epidemiology concentration in the MPH program, and several NIH‐supported training grants. Compensation and Benefits
Salary and start‑up packages will be commensurate with rank.
