Position Overview
CYS Training Specialist NF-04

Location Fort Polk, Louisiana (Child and Youth Services). The position requires travel to on‑ and off‑post locations.
Childcare Fee
Available to MWR CYS Regular and FLEX employees (minimum 15 hours).
First child: 100% childcare fee discount for all CYS employees.
Second and subsequent child: at least 25% childcare fee discount for all CYS employees.
Duties
Plan and implement a comprehensive training and professional development program that promotes positive growth and development of children and youth in accordance with all applicable regulations and standards.
Design, administer, and conduct the Foundation, Annual/On‑Going training requirements based on course outlines; conduct training both on‑the‑job and in classroom settings according to the developed training plan.
Design and implement the annual CYS program plan, including training goals and objectives, a plan to meet individual staff needs, and a curriculum framework that encompasses the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of children/youth.
Observe in appropriate program settings throughout all hours of operation to assess and evaluate staff competency and provide feedback.
Manage the program budget, conduct written analyses of budget variances, and prepare justification for funding of program resource requirements. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Direct Deposit and Social Security Card required.
Meet all qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
A one‑year probationary period may be required.
Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E‑Verify) check.
Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre‑employment checks in accordance with AR 215‑3, para. 2, including a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
Maintain a successful and up‑to‑date Criminal Records Check; no pending law enforcement investigations.
Demonstrate satisfactory performance and successful completion of training requirements.
Travel to on‑ and off‑post locations required.
Must have current health assessment documenting good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and required immunizations (including annual influenza vaccination) in accordance with Army and DoD policy.
Qualifications
Successful completion of a bachelor’s degree or higher that included at least 24 semester hours in child development (including directly related behavioral science), childhood education, or a related field.
At least 12 months of experience working in child and youth programs.
At least one year of experience in a similar work level requiring application of knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position.
Ability to plan and organize work, analyze problems, gather relevant data, and recognize solutions.
Experience in planning and conducting training for child and youth staff.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Education
Proof of education required at the time of application. Transcripts and other documentation must be in English, legible, and reflect the name of the school and applicant.
Foreign education must be evaluated by a qualified organization; equivalency must be established to an accredited U.S. program.
