Job Summary
The Carrier Representative (Flatbed Specialist) plays a vital role in managing and growing Unlimited Logistics’ flatbed and specialized freight network. This position focuses on developing strong carrier relationships, negotiating competitive rates, and ensuring the safe and efficient movement of complex open‑deck shipments. The ideal candidate has hands‑on knowledge of flatbed operations, securement practices, and permitting processes and enjoys working in a fast‑paced, high‑performing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Source, qualify, and manage relationships with flatbed, step‑deck, RGN, and specialized carriers.
Negotiate rates and payment terms, accounting for securement, tarping, and regional requirements.
Coordinate and dispatch specialized freight, ensuring proper communication and on‑time delivery.
Maintain carrier compliance with safety, insurance, and FMCSA standards.
Partner with account managers on oversized and overweight loads to ensure proper permitting and routing.
Build loyalty and long‑term partnerships with carriers to secure consistent capacity.
Act as the internal flatbed subject‑matter expert, supporting operations and account teams with specialized freight knowledge.
Communicate continuously with carriers and internal teams throughout the day via phone and email to cover loads, resolve issues, and maintain service levels.
Qualifications
2+ years of logistics, dispatch, or carrier sales experience (flatbed preferred).
Strong knowledge of open‑deck freight, securement, and specialized equipment.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment.
Familiarity with TMS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.
