The Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes‑Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine is an international leader in cancer treatment, research, prevention, education and community outreach. It is the only cancer center in Missouri and within a 240‑mile radius of St. Louis to hold the prestigious Comprehensive Cancer Center designation from the National Cancer Institute and membership in the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.
The Leukemia/Lymphoma Unit (6900) provides care to patients hospitalized for chemotherapy, pain management, symptom management related to chemotherapy and support for immunosuppression and/or neutropenia. This 34‑bed unit consists of private rooms with eight HEPA‑filtered rooms. The care is moderate to high acuity with a high complexity of interventions including leukemia care, autologous stem cell transplants, donor cellular infusions, post‑allogeneic complications, graft versus host disease and a focus on clinical trials. The multidisciplinary group of care providers includes bone marrow transplant physicians, oncology nurses, case managers, coordinators, social workers, spiritual care, pharmacy and psycho‑social support.
Responsibilities
Manages individuals, including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans, ensures productivity and actions meet departmental goals.
Participates in development of departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets and is responsible for adhering to those goals.
Provides and oversees patient care according to planned interventions with regard to their age and developmental needs to attain optimum wellness and documents according to policy.
Creates and ensures implementation of a collaborative plan of care based on assessment, diagnosis and medical treatment.
MAY support review of staff hours worked vs scheduled hours, determine disposition if variation exists, approve daily payroll updates, reconcile time cards, bonus tracking and coding. Prepare and lead staff communications, huddle agendas and meetings, determine staffing needs, assign overtime, recommend effective annual increases, interview staff for open positions, conduct performance reviews and draft corrective actions/coaching.
Responsible for staff productivity and overall operational goals as established by department leadership, conduct performance evaluations and make recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications
BSN, RN required
Leadership opportunity on an inpatient BMT oncology unit
Monday‑Friday, 8‑ or 10‑hour evening shifts available
Exempt level evening shift differential included

Charge nurse or other leadership experience
Oncology experience preferred, but not required
Bachelor’s Degree (Nursing)
2‑5 years nursing experienceNo supervisory experience required
RN license
