About the Correctional Industrial Facility
As a part of the Indiana Department of Correction, the Correctional Industrial Facility promotes public safety by providing meaningful, effective opportunities for successful re‑entry. The facility is a level 2‑3, medium‑security correctional facility for adult males located in Pendleton, Indiana. It offers incarcerated individuals various job opportunities—including apprenticeships, maintenance, grounds crew, food service, sanitation, barbering, and manufacturing—to aid in the re‑entry process. Incarcerated individuals are also afforded the opportunity to earn their GED.
Role Overview As a Correctional Training Officer at the Correctional Industrial Facility, you will oversee a team of training officers for staff in a medium‑security correctional facility. During a typical day, you will be responsible for ensuring the scheduling of classes, assignment of instructors, and overseeing the security of the training center. As a department head, you will report directly to the Deputy Warden of Operations. This role supports a vital aspect of the facility; you will have a direct impact on ensuring staff know how to perform their duties safely and professionally. You will also work directly with new hires, influencing their knowledge and helping facility leadership promote a positive and supportive work culture.
Salary Statement The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day In The Life
Conduct and assist in new employee, annual, and on‑the‑job training for all staff.
Assist in the development of training curricula to meet specific performance objectives.
Test, measure, and evaluate trainee performance based on established standards.
Assist supervisor to ensure that all training programs, procedures, methods, and standards are in compliance with established standards.
Maintain a variety of training records, course information, and prepare written reports.

What You'll Need For Success
High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE).
Two (2) years of full‑time experience in corrections, education, in‑service training, or related experience.
Working knowledge of principles and practices of Staff Development and Training Division including Administrative Procedures.
Working knowledge of “Adult Learning” principles.
Working knowledge of training correctional issues, treatment programs, custody issues, ACA standards and departmental policies and procedure.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to present and execute detailed lesson plans.
Ability to successfully complete all required training, including the Train the Trainer programs.
Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Supervisory Responsibilities / Direct Reports This role provides supervision for incarcerated individuals and requires a high level of judgment and care.
