Overview
TGen, the Translational Genomics Research Institute, a part of City of Hope, is an Arizona-based nonprofit medical research institute dedicated to conducting groundbreaking research with life-changing results. We work to unravel the genetic components of common and complex diseases, including cancer, neurological disorders, infectious diseases, and rare childhood disorders. By identifying treatment options in this manner, we believe medicine becomes more rational, more precise and more personal. Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, execute, and troubleshoot designed experiments, including data collection; analysis, evaluating/interpreting test results, developing conclusions. Keep up-to-date detailed logs of the experiments and report scientific findings through write-ups, presentations, posters, and manuscripts. Communicate results and updates to team members. Conduct Quality Control (QC) analysis. Sample tracking and inventory updates. Order and organize lab supplies. Maintain clean equipment and an organized lab environment. Attend meetings, presentations, seminars. Assist/mentor colleagues and/or interns. Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences or related field (Biology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Genetics). Preferred experience includes mouse studies, cell culture, biochemical assays, histology and molecular biology. Ability to work independently to run own study upon completion of training. Experience with desktop computing for data entry: Microsoft Office, Google GSuite, statistical and graphical software packages. Experience with biotech equipment (e.g., thermocyclers, spectrophotometers, microscopes, centrifuges). Other desirable techniques include flow cytometry, tissue processing, immunostaining, PCR, sequencing, real-time PCR, immunoblots, construction of sequencing libraries. Benefits
