Job Summary Payroll & Benefits Specialist ensures accurate payroll processing through ADP Workforce Now, administers benefits, and supports regulatory/state‑mandated audits (IRS, DOL, ACA, ERISA, insurance). The ideal candidate combines strong technical payroll and benefits knowledge with a compliance mindset and thrives in an environment where accuracy, deadlines, and audit readiness are essential.
Primary Responsibilities
Collect, validate, and reconcile employee timecards, PTO, and absences.
Process payroll in
ADP
and review pre‑ and post‑processing reports for accuracy.
Verify overtime approvals in compliance with
California wage/hour laws .
Reconcile monthly benefit invoices against payroll deductions.
Prepare documentation and respond to audits ( IRS, DOL, ACA, ERISA, insurance carriers ).
Provide timely responses to employee payroll/benefit inquiries (within 2 business days).
Partner with HR and Finance to ensure compliance, accuracy, and reporting integrity.
Qualifications
1-3 years of payroll and benefits administration experience.
Strong knowledge of
California labor law
and federal payroll/benefits regulations.
Proficiency with
ADP Workforce Now
(or comparable payroll system).
Experience supporting audits and compliance processes ( IRS, DOL, ACA, ERISA ).
High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
Proficiency in
Excel , HRIS, and/or ERP systems.
Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Experience
Background in
EMS, manufacturing, or aerospace/defense
industries.
Familiarity with
ITAR-sensitive employee record requirements .
Exposure to
ESG/HR reporting
(benefit utilization, DEI metrics, compliance reporting).
