Overview Alpha School is revolutionizing reading education with an AI‑driven, 2‑hour learning model. We need a distinguished reading specialist to expand this innovation and lead dynamic, tech‑integrated literacy workshops across multiple campuses.
What You Will Be Doing
Conduct adaptive reading workshops focusing on foundational skills such as phonics, comprehension, and fluency.
Create personalized motivational sessions to boost engagement through gamified literacy achievements.
Analyze student progress data to refine teaching methods and uncover actionable insights.
Collaborate with the tech team to assess and enhance AI literacy tools based on classroom outcomes.
Develop scalable content that personalizes reading paths for diverse learners.
What You Won’t Be Doing
Adhering to a rigid, scripted curriculum that overlooks student needs and data.
Spending extensive time on traditional lesson planning, grading, or administrative tasks.
Working in overcrowded, resource‑limited classrooms.
Focusing solely on behavior management instead of reading instruction.
Teaching in isolation without contributing to program or product development.
Key Responsibilities Create a scalable, AI‑enhanced reading program that empowers early elementary students to reach grade‑level proficiency and develop a lifelong passion for reading.
Basic Requirements
Bachelor’s degree with advanced certification in reading instruction (e.g., Orton‑Gillingham, Wilson, or equivalent).
Minimum of 2 years of experience delivering small‑group reading interventions to early elementary students.
Expertise in assessing reading levels, grouping students, and crafting differentiated instruction without relying on pre‑written curricula.
Proficiency with AI/adaptive learning tools and the ability to respond to student interactions within them.
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Commitment to working onsite at one of our campuses: Lake Forest, CA; San Francisco, CA; Miami, FL; or New York City, NY.

Working With Us This is a full‑time (40 hours per week) long‑term position. The role is immediately available and requires an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. Compensation is $60 USD/hour, equating to $120,000 USD per year (40 hours/week, 50 weeks). Payment is weekly.
