Overview

This position is located at Birch Ski Hill and Snowboard Area on Fort Wainwright, AK. Incentives

Incentives will not be paid. Duties

Repairs and inspects ski and snow equipment (i.e. ski edges and bases; binding toe and heel latches; boots and poles; cross country skis, binding and poles; and snowboards). Bonds, grinds and replaces pads, baskets, straps, arms, latches, snaps, buckles, laces and grips as specified by the manufacturers workshop manuals. Receives and issues equipment and supplies, maintains proper temporary hand receipts, and when required, processes statements of charges for damaged or lost parts and equipment. Follows procedures outlined in binding technical manuals; adjusting binding according to customers height, weight, skier type, age and boot size. Recommends correct length and type of skis for customers and assists with boot and pole fitting. Assists with maintenance, inspections, servicing and/or attending of ski lifts as needed. Assists ski patrol in emergency lift evacuation. Requirements

Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required. Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. A one-year probationary period may be required. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check. Frequent standing, stooping and bending in awkward positions. Work seldom requires lifting or carrying items in excess of 35 pounds. Must have good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Work is normally done inside in well lighted, heated and ventilated areas. Exposed to possibility of cuts, scrapes and bruises. Occasionally works outside in all kinds of weather. Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities. Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, Chapter 2.
