We are seeking a highly experienced Payments Architect with deep expertise in the issuing domain to lead large-scale technology modernization and transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical architecture capabilities with a solid understanding of payment processing, digital platforms, and cloud-native systems.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Coral Springs, FL is $110k - $120k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role Responsibilities:

Define and drive end-to-end architecture for payment solutions within the issuing domain.

Lead modernization and transformation programs focusing on scalability, performance, and resiliency.

Collaborate with business stakeholders, product managers, and engineering teams to align technology solutions with business objectives.

Design microservices-based architectures leveraging

Java

and modern integration patterns.

Architect and oversee solutions on

cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) , ensuring best practices in security, performance, and cost optimization.

Evaluate emerging technologies and frameworks to enhance the payments ecosystem.

Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to engineering teams.

Requirements:

15+ years of experience in software architecture, solution design, and technology delivery.

Strong domain expertise in

Payments , particularly

Card Issuing

(Credit, Debit, Prepaid).

Proven experience leading

large-scale technology modernization or transformation

programs.

Proficiency in

Java ,

Spring Boot , and

Microservices

architecture.

Hands‑on experience with

Cloud Platforms (AWS or Azure) .

Familiarity with

API design, event‑driven architecture , and

DevOps practices .

Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.

Preferred, but not required:

Experience with

payment gateways, tokenization, ISO 8583/ISO 20022

messaging standards.

Exposure to

real‑time payments ,

digital wallets , or

open banking

environments.

Prior experience in a global bank, fintech, or payment processor environment.
