Overview
Business Opportunity Coordinator
- The Business Opportunity Coordinator executes the Detroit Business Opportunity Program. The Coordinator operates under Executive Order 2014-3 and 2014-5 administering Detroit Business Certificates and building business engagement and mentorship programming. Responsibilities
Process and monitor business certification applications Manage business certification information in Departmental databases and perform data analysis Develop increased support or programming to engage Detroit Based Businesses Assist entities in completion of all documents for business certifications Prepare external and internal reports, and collect and process payments for business certificates Build and maintain relationships with other teams and agencies Attend or facilitate meetings with businesses or other entities NOTE : The job duties listed are typical examples of the work performed by positions in this job classification. Not all duties assigned to every position are included, nor is it expected that all positions will be assigned every duty. Desired Skills
Experience with project management Working knowledge of MS Office Ability to utilize database systems Strong Organizational and time-management skills Ability to solve problems and work cooperatively and effectively with outside organizations Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to interact with department personnel, managers, directors, neighborhood leaders, and City officials Strong sense of service to Detroit Residents Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in human resources, employee relations, public administration, business management, business administration or a related field. Advanced training or continuing education in human resources management or labor laws and practices preferred. Three (3) years of experience facilitating and/or providing technical support in the management of human resources and/or labor relations services in multiple functional areas including, but not limited to, workplace violence and discrimination and harassment or in the adjudication of legal matters related to the provision of those services. Interview: 70% Evaluation of Training, Experience & Personal Qualifications: 30% Total of Interview and Evaluation (T.E.P): 100% Additional points may be awarded for: Veteran Points: 0 – 15 points Detroit Residency Credit: 15 points LRD: 12/13/2023
