We're Hiring: Coding Specialist (OB/GYN) We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Coding Specialist (OB/GYN) to join our healthcare team. This remote position is responsible for accurately coding outpatient and surgical OB/GYN professional services using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding conventions. Under direct supervision, the Coding Specialist will ensure all charges are captured and entered into the billing system with precision and in compliance with current standards. Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm.

Location: Elkridge, MD - Remote Position.

Work Type: Temp to hire with potential for long-term placement based on performance.

Key Responsibilities Code Assignment

Accurately review and interpret operative reports and provider documentation to assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes.

Ensure charge capture maximization and coding compliance with industry standards.

Documentation Review

Analyze and abstract clinical data from patient medical records for reimbursement, statistical, and indexing purposes.

Billing Support

Serve as a liaison between clinical and billing teams to resolve coding-related inquiries.

Respond promptly to billing department questions to ensure timely processing.

Compliance & Accuracy

Ensure quality, accuracy, and timeliness of coded data.

Adhere to internal and external coding guidelines and productivity standards.

Professional Development

Participate in ongoing education, coding seminars, and required hospital or departmental meetings.

Customer Relations

Use appropriate communication and customer service skills to protect patient confidentiality and ensure respectful interaction with all stakeholders.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required.

CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist – Physician) certification required.

Minimum 2 years of coding experience with OB/GYN professional services.

2+ years' experience coding OB/GYN surgical procedures in a hospital setting (professional services) preferred.

COBGC (Certified Obstetrics Gynecology Coder) certification preferred.

Experience with outpatient professional fee revenue cycle management preferred.

Proficiency in abstracting and assigning ICD-10-CM and CPT codes from provider documentation.

Additional Information
