Pay Range Base pay range: $225,000.00/yr - $400,000.00/yr.

Summary The Albert Lea Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) has an opening for a Full‑Time Staff Physician. CBOCs within the Minneapolis VA Health Care System provide care to Veterans near their home town and serve over 18,000 Veterans throughout Minnesota and Western Wisconsin.

Qualifications

United States Citizenship: Non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.

The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.

Current – full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States – or in the District of Columbia.

Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training – approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.

Approved residencies include those approved by ACGME, AOA, or other residencies with verified US practice experience deemed appropriate by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee.

Residents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residency training programs who would otherwise meet the basic requirements for appointment are eligible to be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs).

PRPs must be fully licensed physicians (i.e., not a training license) and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee‑basis.

PRPs are not considered independent practitioners and will not be privileged.

Physicians must have proficiency in spoken and written English.

Additional Requirement: Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Internal/Family Medicine (Preferred).

Physical Requirements: You will be asked to participate in a pre‑employment examination or evaluation as part of the pre‑employment process for this position. Questions about physical demands or environmental factors may be addressed at the time of evaluation or examination.

Duties

Recruitment Incentive (Sign‑on Bonus): Authorized – amount to be determined.

Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): Eligible for EDRP with application submitted within four months of appointment.

Program approval – award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.

Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

Pay: Competitive salary – annual performance bonus – regular salary increases.

Paid Time Off: 50–55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave – 13 days of sick leave – 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5‑day paid absence for CME).

Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401(k) with up to 5% in contributions by VA.

Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long‑term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement).

Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory.

CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full‑time with board certification).

Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided.

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting.

Seeking a Family Practice or Internal Medicine trained primary care provider with administrative and supervisory experience for a position as Medical Supervisor at a VA clinic in Albert Lea – Minnesota.

Our facilities include an updated fully‑equipped medical clinic with a lab, x‑ray, and telemedicine capabilities.

Our physicians serve the primary care health needs of Albert Lea and rural areas using a team approach with nursing and onsite clinical pharmacist.

Mental Health services within the clinic help to provide comprehensive care to the Veterans served in this VA Community Clinic.

Take time with your patients.

Visits for established patients are 30 minutes; for new patients 60 minutes. Providers will perform outpatient duties and management of scheduled and unscheduled patients.

An assigned panel of patients is determined by the VHA PCMM software package which is specific to their practice and setting.

Focus on care includes the chronic disease initiative areas of CHF – COPD and DM – mental health collaboration in the PC setting – MOVE program focusing on weight loss – diet and activity as well as health promotion/disease management.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 08:00–16:30.
