Description
Work with Pastor, Youth and Children Committee, deacons, students, and their families to develop, implement, and lead a ministry for children, students and their families that disciples children and students to know Jesus Christ as their Lord, and to grow spiritually. The position includes coordinating the children’s ministries (nursery through 5th grade), and leading the youth program (6th through 12th grade). Commitment would range from 16-20 hours per week with the possibility of expanding in the future depending on growth of youth and children program. Salary range would be from $20,000-$25,000 annually.
Qualifications
Sound, Bible-based spiritual testimony
Evidence of a growing relationship with the Lord
Feels called by God to minister to children and youth
Experience and training with children and youth ministries
Meets Biblical qualifications found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9
If applicable, spouse is of sound biblical mind
Responsibilities
Facilitate a Bible based Sunday School Ministry for students
Facilitate a weekly Bible based Youth Worship Service (Sunday or Wednesday Nights)
Coordinate the children’s ministries from nursery through 5th Grade
Provide discipleship training that leads students to know and follow Jesus Christ as their Lord
Be a positive Christian role model for students
Organize and promote activities such as service projects, mission trips, retreats, fellowships, and conferences that will enhance spiritual growth
Maintain communications among parents, students, and leaders through such vehicles as the church newsletter and social media
Offer biannual parent meeting to keep parents up to date on teaching material, youth events, etc.
Recommend the yearly budget requirements for children’s and student’s activities
Provide input and support to Vacation Bible School (VBS)
Actively build relationships with students by attending some school functions and sporting events
Recruit, train, and coordinate church members serving in the children’s and youth ministry
Ensure that all volunteers working with children and youth have a clear background check on file
If requested, attend deacons meetings
Attend monthly meetings with Lead Pastor
Collaborate with other local youth pastors to plan events such as DNow, C4, FCA, etc.
Able to drive church van
Keep Youth and Nursery Roster up to date with student and parent information
Perform other duties as assigned by Pastor
Personal Growth
Pursue personal spiritual growth through private devotion time
Maintains, as a priority, a right relationship with God, spouse, and family
Attend weekly worship services
