The Counselor works under the Center Administrator to manage program staff, provide counseling care and education to clients, and collaborate with the rehabilitation team to support clients’ recovery journey. Pay Rate

Under the direction of the Center Administrator, the Lead Counselor is responsible for: Personnel and Staffing:
Recruit, train, and utilize community volunteers. Attend weekly program meetings for communication.
Intake Operations:
Ensure intake operations meet ARC standards. Manage paperwork and data entry as required.
Curriculum:
Ensure curriculum compliance with ARC standards. Develop teaching objectives and outlines. Recruit suitable teachers for all classes. Conduct one‑on‑one and group counseling sessions (minimum bi‑weekly).
Counseling:
Assist beneficiaries to overcome social and emotional challenges. Maintain accurate counseling records and class activity documentation. Develop individual rehabilitation plans. Assist with 3‑ and 5‑month review preparation. Conduct Christian education classes and lead other groups or classes. Attend weekly case conference. Provide counseling statistics for monthly program reports. Document progress notes and assess spiritual needs. Attend at least one Wednesday night chapel service each month. Serve as backup for other counselors when needed. Support other staff in the Program Department.
Other Duties:
Cooperate with the Administrator to develop successful programs. Ensure compliance with ARCC review standards. Travel to events within the area and territory. Perform other duties as assigned by the ARC Administrator. Monitor overtime; all overtime must be approved by Administrator or designee.
Qualifications
Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor or Bachelor’s degree plus at least one year of experience in substance abuse field. One year of teaching or presenting material on rehabilitation. Valid driver’s license and clean MVR. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access) and ability to learn new software. Age 21 or older. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to make critical decisions and work with minimal supervision. Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Professional judgment, integrity, and confidentiality regarding beneficiary information. Commitment to The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center Program and ARC Mission Statement. Active Christian worldview. No evidence of current chemical dependency. Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel or twist continuously or intermittently. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, cabinets, etc. Ability to communicate clearly on telephone. Ability to lift 30 pounds. Ability to perform repetitive motion tasks. Seniority Level
