Job Summary The Staff Accountant supports the daily accounting functions of the Finance Department by performing general ledger tasks, reconciliations, data entry, and assisting with financial reporting. This position is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals looking to gain hands‑on experience in public sector accounting within a healthcare‑focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and post journal entries under the supervision of senior staff.
Reconcile bank accounts and general ledger accounts on a regular basis.
Assist in accounts payable and receivable processing.
Support the monthly and year‑end close processes.
Maintain accounting schedules and supporting documentation.
Help compile financial and compliance reports as required by state or federal guidelines.
Assist in audits by preparing requested documentation.
Maintain compliance with internal control policies and financial procedures.
Collaborate with grants, payroll, and budget teams as needed.
Education
Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree with a major specialization in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
License
Current and valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Experience
Basic understanding of accounting principles (GAAP).
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Office Suite.
Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Internship or work experience in accounting, public sector, or healthcare setting.
Familiarity with fund accounting, GASB, or governmental accounting.
Experience with accounting or ERP software (e.g., PeopleSoft, Oracle, Workday).
Hours Full‑Time.
Workdays Monday - Friday.
Work Hours 8:00AM - 5:00PM.
Salary $64,181.06 annually.
