Varsity Track & Field Assistant Coach (Winter Season)
Location: Convent of the Sacred Heart, 91st Street, New York City.
Reports to: Interim Associate Director of Athletics
FLSA: Exempt part‑time. Salary range: $3,500–$4,000; 4 days per week (no Thursday) from 3:00–5:30 pm for practices. Approximately 6 track meets during the season.
Start date: November 5, 2025.
Summary The Assistant Track & Field Coach is responsible for working with the Head Coach to assist with the growth, development, and leadership of the Convent of the Sacred Heart Varsity Track & Field programs. This coach should specialize in field events, with an emphasis on developing our field program and mentoring athletes in those disciplines, while occasionally assisting other coaches with sprinters and distance runners.
Responsibilities
Produce a high level of competency in sport skill instruction, motivation, and conduct of practice sessions.
Reinforce a strong team culture in line with the values of the CSH athletic program.
Achieve competitive results that display athletic excellence.
Demonstrate a sincere interest in the social, emotional, academic, moral‑ethical, and athletic development of student‑athletes; display that the highest priority is the health, safety, and welfare of student‑athletes.
Exhibit supportive and cooperative behavior in pursuit of achieving sport program goals established by the Head Coach and Interim Associate Athletic Director.
Act with leadership and professional behavior in dealing with student‑athletes, parents, and administrators.
Exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with adherence to NYSAIS, AAIS, School, Division, and Department of Athletics rules and regulations and Coaches Manual.
Other
Responsible for any additional tasks assigned by the Head Coach, not previously mentioned, that are needed to maintain and/or oversee the success of the team and Sacred Heart Athletics program.
Maintain good professional and collaborative relationships with colleagues.
Commit to personal growth through active participation in professional development.
Qualifications / Skills
Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience.
Previous high school/college coaching experience required. High school playing experience required; college playing experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of running, track and field programming and experience coaching with teams.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to manage relationships at administrative, student‑athlete, and parent levels.
Record of integrity, reliability, punctuality and strong work ethic.
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
