Position Purpose In support of Dartmouth’s Alumni Relations mission, the Associate Director of Alumni Engagement plays a leadership role in managing alumni engagement strategies for 90,000+ alumni worldwide. This position supports strategic volunteer partnerships and hands‑on leadership to alumni organizations (class, clubs, and groups). It works with volunteer leadership boards, volunteer groups, internal campus partners, ad‑hoc committees, and task forces, building connections between alumni and Dartmouth. It collaborates with internal stakeholders, operations and engagement strategy teams, campus partners, and Advancement colleagues to ensure alignment of alumni engagement efforts with broader institutional goals.

Key Accountabilities

Develop and implement regional alumni engagement strategies, aligning initiatives with Dartmouth’s institutional goals.

Manage volunteer engagement, including training, onboarding, and oversight of alumni volunteers worldwide.

Collaborate with campus partners (Athletics, Student Life, Admissions, etc.) to coordinate alumni events and programs.

Track engagement metrics, measure impact, and drive continuous improvement and accountability.

Serve as liaison for alumni volunteer groups and leadership boards, fostering sustainable volunteer structures.

Plan and execute in‑person and virtual programs (e.g., Dartmouth on Location, expert panels) and networking events.

Lead strategic relationship management to maintain consistent alumni communications and expand engagement opportunities.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).

5+ years of advancement experience in a complex college or university development operation or equivalent.

Volunteer management experience and the ability to lead through change.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence diverse constituencies.

Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and complex project management skills.

Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.

Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

Articulation of Dartmouth’s purpose and programs to various audiences.

Professionalism, maturity, and collaborative teamwork.

Experience with technology and data analytics to optimize volunteer engagement.

Adaptability to a fast‑paced, evolving environment.

Willingness to travel, work nights, and weekends.

Other Requirements Employment will be contingent upon possession of a valid U.S. or Canadian driver’s license and continued qualification as an Approved Driver under Dartmouth College Driver Safety and Motor Vehicle Policy.
