The HIV CDI will maintain records for data compilation; conduct field investigation with utmost regard to confidentiality and schedule those individuals with a positive test result and those named as a contact, suspect, or associate to a health care provider for diagnosis and treatment. Bachelor's degree in health promotion, public health, medical technology, health sciences, or a health‑related field. Equivalent combination of post‑secondary education and/or experience conducting health field investigations, community outreach, and/or case management may substitute for the education requirement on a year‑by‑year basis. Experience working as a Communicable Disease Investigator for a local or state public health department. Experience working with various socioeconomic groups performing counseling or health education services. Experience working with STIs or epidemiological data related to STIs. Experience collaborating with medical facilities, case management agencies, or entities affiliated with the Ryan White Program. Experience completing patient interviews, assessments, referrals, and needs determination. Job Contributions (Responsibilities)
Conduct field and telephone investigations with utmost regard to confidentiality. Research, identify, locate, and contact individuals with confirmed or potential HIV case. Provide clients with HIV test results and refer to a medical provider for diagnosis and treatment. Interview clients who have tested positive for HIV to elicit names and contact information of sexual partners and obtain epidemiological data. Connect clients to appropriate agencies for follow‑up care and education. Locate, notify, and interview the sexual partners of clients who have tested positive for HIV. Follow up with confirmed positive cases to ensure receiving medical care. Create and maintain case investigation documents, records, and reports. Conduct community outreach activities targeting high‑risk communities, including registration for testing, performing venipuncture, and specimen collection. Provide HIV prevention education and navigation to clients in a clinical setting. Working Conditions
Work occurs in office and field environments with potential exposure to loud noise, noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, fumes, dust, and varying weather. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs occasionally or occasional negligible weights frequently, sitting most of the time. Valid Arizona driver’s license required upon hire. Ability to participate in emergency response training and respond as directed in a public health emergency. Must complete within 60 days of hire: OSHA/Blood‑borne Pathogens training, HIPAA, CDC STI modular training, certified venipuncture training (within 6 months). Within 60 days of hire, provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine‑preventable illnesses (MMR, Tdap, Varicella, Influenza, Hep B, TB test). Selection Procedure
