Basic Duties and Responsibilities
Install, configure and support servers, routers, switches, firewalls, wireless network, backup systems, storage area networks, virtual servers, desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, and other associated hardware.
Manage Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and group policy.
Monitor and test network performance and troubleshoot any performance issues.
Research and recommend changes to the system architecture to accommodate technology upgrades, improve performance, increase efficiency, and reduce costs.
Assess and define short‑term and long‑term network capacity.
Maintain, test, and update the data backup systems, archiving and disaster recovery.
Assist in the development and implementation of network and system administration policies.
Maintain an accurate IT asset inventory.
Monitor, test, and document network hardware configurations, security settings, processes, policy compliance, backup procedures, and other network administrative activities as required by Sarbanes‑Oxley.
Interact and negotiate with vendors and contractors to procure network products.
Provide support for land line phones.
Provide end‑user support as part of a 24x7 help desk, including training and assisting staff in using hardware and software more efficiently.
Install security patches on all servers.
Other duties as assigned by the IT Manager and/or Senior Director of Technology and Continuous Improvement.
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or other related field, or at least 5 years of experience as a Network and System Administrator or related role in the design, implementation, support, and management of complex LAN and server solutions.
Strong communication and documentation skills.
Ability to work with all levels of staff to define business and technical requirements and to perform system tasks.
Working knowledge of software patch management and updates.
The following skills are not necessary but are a plus:
Certifications: CCNA, Network+, Security+, Server+, VMware Certified Professional
Sarbanes‑Oxley compliance.
