Position Summary The Network Engineer reports to the Director, Professional Services and is responsible for a variety of projects including circuit activations, managed services troubleshooting, and performing configurations, installations, and upgrades on customer contracts. This position also works directly with customers to provide day-to-day network administration and troubleshooting support.
Key Responsibilities / Duties
Lead SMB network deployments and intermediate and advanced network troubleshooting.
Ensure incidents and problems are appropriately resolved or escalated.
Provide pre‑sales support to Account Managers when needed.
Offer guidance & leadership to less experienced Network Analysts.
Deploy and support firewalls across various manufacturers including Velocloud SD‑WAN, Meraki, Cisco, Aruba HPE, Palo Alto, Juniper, and Fortinet.
Perform software upgrades and support existing Cisco voice deployments.
Participate & build low‑level customer network design and implementation of Meriplex services.
Prepare client‑facing documentation including Network Assessments, IPT Questionnaires, Implementation Plans, and Post Implementation documentation.
Fully document customer’s network environment.
Responsible for disconnect process to ensure IP address, license keys, and client accounts are reclaimed.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Behaviors
Comprehensive understanding of telecommunications theory and OSI model.
Ability to work within a customer oriented, positive team environment.
Strong interpersonal, oral, visual, and written communication skills for communications to technical and non‑technical staff & customers.
Ability to learn and quickly adapt to new technologies.
Education / Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or another relevant field preferred.
7+ years of experience with Network infrastructure, including design, implementation, and troubleshooting in a mid‑ to large‑sized environment.
Hands‑on experience installing, upgrading and maintaining firewalls, switches, routers.
Experience with installing and upgrading Cisco voice gateways.
Experience supporting Cisco and/or Fortinet security products.
MS Visio experience.
Experience with SDWAN is required.
Certifications
Required: CCNA
Preferred: CCNP, CCNA‑Voice/Collaboration, CCNA‑Wireless, CCNA‑Security
Physical Demands Sedentary Work – Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
