Assists eye care providers in the care of patients and flow of clinical activities. Ensures proper care and usage of medical instruments. Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of eye care provider, assists with performing patient care. Demonstrate proficiency in performing ophthalmic core competencies. Performs basic ophthalmic testing procedures, diagnostic testing, administration of medications and tasks delegated by the eye care provider. Assists with minor procedures and prescription refill process under the direction of provider. Performs documentation, patient education and enters charges. Assists with the flow of patient care. Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action. Requirements
High School diploma or GED. Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) or National Contact Lens Examiner Certification (NCLEC) if performing as a contact lens technician. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider; BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire. 2 years sponsored on the job ophthalmic training, or ophthalmic internship. Benefits and highlights
