Overview Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research associate position in the Ribic NeuroLab at the University of Virginia. The PI of the lab, Dr. Adema Ribic, is in the Department of Psychology and the Program for Fundamental Neuroscience, and the lab collaborates with the local neuroscience community through UVA Brain Institute and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences initiatives.

Responsibilities and Training The PI and the lab will provide training in cutting-edge approaches to study the developing brain, such as in vivo electrophysiology and imaging in combination with optogenetic and chemogenetic manipulation of neural activity in behaving mouse pups, as well as in scientific writing and presentations. The successful candidate is expected to aid in ongoing projects, and to pursue independent research lines. They will also be expected to be the primary contact for all manuscripts resulting from their research in the Ribic NeuroLab and will be encouraged and supported to apply for independent funding. The PI has mentored scientists who transitioned to non-academic positions and has been an advisor for successful K99 applications.

Ribic NeuroLab is part of a vibrant developmental neuroscience community at UVA, enabling interactions with a broad spectrum of neuroscientists, from clinicians to theoretical and computational researchers. The lab is housed in the newly renovated Gilmer Hall and shares laboratory space with eight other neuroscience labs whose expertise ranges from epigenetics to sensory systems.
