Job Summary Performs a variety of low‑skilled and unskilled strenuous labor assisting in the cleaning, maintenance, and repair of streets, storm drains, sewer lines; maintenance and repair of airport grounds and facilities; construction and maintenance of water/wastewater mains; cleaning water meters; operating tractors, mowers, and lawn equipment; maintaining public facilities, lakes, zoo, aquarium, and park grounds; and collecting garbage/brush and trimming landscape.
Essential Functions
Performs skilled and un‑skilled strenuous labor for various departments; participates in maintenance, care, repair, and operations of facilities, utilities, public spaces, and landscaping for the City; performs a variety of labor for different departments.
Assists in setting forms, mixing and pouring concrete, spreading and laying asphalt, or spreading crack seal for maintenance and repair of sidewalks, curbs, gutters, or streets; assists in laying pipes for storm or sanitary sewers, drains, or water mains.
Loads and unloads tools, construction material, and equipment onto trucks.
Operates air/jack hammer to break old concrete or asphalt and drives equipment such as dump trucks, tractor‑driven mowers, or other machinery.
Flags traffic, sets barriers and cones to ensure safety of crew and public.
Digs ditches and trenches, grades to specific evaluation, trims, shovels, cuts, cleans debris, and removes vegetation; assists in cleaning drainage ditches, inlets, storm drains, and sewer lines.
Cuts grass, removes litter and weeds, cleans floors, and maintains facility grounds, street medians, and vacant lots, ensuring safety.
Performs any other trades work as needed or assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
General mechanical knowledge and aptitude necessary to perform a variety of unskilled labor.
Ability to learn to use hand/power tools and other equipment specific to various trades.
Ability to perform manual labor.
Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
Establishing and maintaining effective relationships.

Salary Range $19.25 - $20.13 per hour.
