High School Social Studies Teacher - Ohio Connections Academy School Summary Ohio Connections Academy (OCA) is a tuition‑free K–12 public virtual school certified under Ohio law, serving students throughout the state. Teachers work from Columbus, Mason, or from home using the Pearson Online Classroom.

Position Summary & Responsibilities The High School Social Studies Teacher will support student learning by delivering synchronous and asynchronous instruction, providing intervention and enrichment, and using data to inform instruction.

Represent a commitment to equitable practice; use evidence to make decisions and hold high expectations for all students.

Deliver recorded lessons and live instruction and communicate individually with students as needed.

Provide clear, constructive feedback; create progress reports and conduct parent conferences.

Collaborate with parents, students, and teachers to update Personal Learning Plans and schedules, score assessments, and monitor assignment completion.

Maintain knowledge of the K‑12 curriculum and the courses for which you are responsible.

Operate within the Response to Intervention/Multi‑Tiered System of Supports model, providing Tier 1 differentiated instruction and coordinating Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.

Support students and parents with alternative lessons, assessments, and strategies to meet individual learning goals.

Build strong relationships with students and families to provide direct instruction and intervention.

Collaborate with staff in a professional learning community to ensure student progress and effective communication.

Monitor student data to make instructional decisions that impact learning.

Develop alternate interventions and extensions with other teachers to achieve high achievement.

Maintain student records and data (attendance, contacts, etc.).

Co‑ordinate with Advisory Teachers and Counselors for student and family communications.

Plan and attend social activities, school events, and field trips.

Engage families at events and develop virtual methods of building a “school community.”

Attend required school and district professional development.

Participate in State Testing administration.

Represent the school at recruiting sessions and marketing events.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Certified to teach in Ohio and highly qualified.

Strong technology skills (Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Pearson Online Classroom).

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Highly organized and punctual.

Student‑ and family‑focused approach.

High degree of flexibility and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.

Team‑player with strong interpersonal skills.

Availability for occasional evening hours and remote work.

Must be able to use a personal electronic device and a two‑step authentication email address.
