Battery Test Technician Tustin, CA
(~50% of the time at a secondary location in Irvine, CA)
Duration:
1 year initial contract
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8 hours/day (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Pay:
$28–33/hr
Role Overview We are seeking a skilled Battery Test Technician to support cell testing and laboratory operations. You will set up and monitor battery cells, perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot equipment, and support engineering teams in testing and data collection. This position requires a hands‑on, detail‑oriented individual with strong technical skills and a focus on safety.
Key Responsibilities
Set up battery cells in test fixtures and systems according to engineering directions
Register and handle cells following SOPs
Perform daily maintenance and monitoring of ongoing battery lifetime testing
Review test progress and report issues to cell engineers as needed
Fabricate test fixtures and harnesses under engineering guidance
Develop and document operating procedures; present facility updates to engineering teams
Work with laboratory equipment manufacturers to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues
Perform routine maintenance and calibration of cell test equipment
Follow general lab safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace
Required Skills & Qualifications
Proficiency with general computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Remote Desktop)
Ability to troubleshoot tools and hardware using various protocols (Ethernet/IP, CAN)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Attention to detail when handling test samples and troubleshooting setups
Hands‑on experience with light machine tools, multimeters, soldering, and wire stripping
Ability to fabricate test fixtures and harnesses; creative problem‑solving skills
Basic understanding of electrical circuits and ability to read wiring diagrams
Awareness of safety protocols for high‑voltage equipment and lithium‑ion batteries
Self‑motivated and capable of thriving in a fast‑paced laboratory environment
