Position Summary Supervise operations for the Environmental Service department to present a clean and safe learning environment for a world‑class college institution of 780,000 sq. ft. of building space.

Duties & Responsibilities

Supervise environmental team members.

Oversee team performance by monitoring daily tasks and ensuring all cleaning is completed to established quality standards.

Assist the Manager with hiring and training of new employees.

Deliver employee training, professional development and safety instruction to support and maintain high‑quality performance standards.

Order supplies and maintain a detailed inventory to stay within the provided budget.

Ensure all machinery is kept in good operating condition; repair or replace any machinery that becomes unsafe or obsolete.

Assist with outside contractors on cleaning needs, when necessary.

Prepare and review various reports, including budget control and inventory.

Approve all staff time and PTO requests on the time‑clock system.

Meet with vendors and obtain quotes on various projects.

Schedule team members for 24/7 coverage for everyday cleaning of students and staff, and for outside events.

Assess any complaints and report solutions to staff and management.

Coordinate with the events department for cleaning support for outside events in the conference center and other campus locations.

Coordinate with housing and pre‑college departments for large cleaning projects of dorms several times throughout the year.

Qualifications

10 years of cleaning experience and 5 years of management.

Strong problem‑solving and people skills.

Ability to work independently.

Strong leadership, interpersonal, public‑relations and supervisory skills.

Experience, ability, and willingness to work in an academic environment.

Flexibility in assignments and working hours to meet the needs of the college.

Working Conditions This job operates in a professional office and college campus environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving parts, and vibration, and may be exposed to outside weather conditions.

Physical Demands Exceeds the typical requirements for a desk‑bound position. The position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. Must be able to climb ladders. Must frequently lift and move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
