The Outside Sales Account Manager is responsible for managing the sales process and driving profitable sales growth within an assigned sales territory to both existing and new Airgas customers. They must meet and exceed corporate and regional objectives for profitable sales growth, A/R management, and customer retention within their territory. The successful candidate will cultivate relationships, provide solutions, and utilize technology to enhance productivity.
Develops and executes sales plans using Airgas' sales directives and guidelines to service existing accounts, obtain orders, and establish new accounts. Qualifies and pursues sales leads. Cultivates customer relationships by developing deep knowledge of the customer's business and establishing a consultative relationship. Engages customers by linking the customer's business priorities to the Airgas value proposition. Prepares sales proposals by quoting pricing, establishing credit terms, and estimated date of delivery based on knowledge of Airgas production/delivery schedules and logistics. Keeps current with industry insights, current Airgas product mixes, and monitors competition by gathering market intelligence on pricing, products, and delivery schedules. Partners with internal resources to accomplish growth objectives. Establishes and maintains clear communication with internal departments regarding customer successes, opportunities, new developments, and other customer-specific information. Maintains and submits sales reports (daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly/annual territory analyses) as required. Actively reviews and manages existing customer accounts receivable balances to minimize Airgas working capital investment and financial risk.
Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. Proven success using a consultative sales approach to provide multiple layers of value and establish sales solutions and products. Deep knowledge of customer business, macro and microeconomic trends, industry trends, and potential new business opportunities. Excellent organizational, written, oral communication, and presentation skills utilizing current technology. Self‑starter, self‑motivated, operates with a sense of urgency, and works independently. Reliable transportation, current driver's license, minimum liability insurance as required by state vehicle registration. Minimum of 3 years of prior outside B2B sales experience with proven solution‑selling concepts and a demonstrated history of managing customers throughout a defined sales territory.
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with industrial and specialty gases, industrial gas/welding supply sales.
