Zurich North America . Zurich is seeking an experienced Construction Professional Liability Underwriter to join our Specialties Construction team. We are open to hiring talent at any Zurich office location or remotely, at the discretion of the Hiring Manager. This role will be filled at either the Mid-Level Construction Professional Liability Underwriter (Level II) or Sr. Construction Property Underwriter (Level III), depending on the candidate's experience and skills. As a Construction Professional Liability Underwriter, you will handle complex new and renewal domestic Construction Professional Liability accounts and serve as a Subject Matter Expert. You will have opportunities to develop your underwriting and marketing skills while building relationships with US-based brokers. Responsibilities include:
Administer and monitor underwriting rules, insurance laws, regulations, and rating guidelines. Develop and collaborate with Line of Business representatives on referrals and business needs. Provide guidance to lower-level associates as needed. Maintain relationships with agents and brokers to support business retention and growth. Support the sales culture by assisting agents, brokers, and customers. Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities. Assess opportunities with key distributors to identify growth potential. Qualify accounts based on organizational appetite and business opportunity. Conduct broker/customer and on-site calls with preparation and purpose. Basic Qualifications:
Property Underwriter II: High School Diploma or equivalent with 3+ years in underwriting or market-facing roles, or 6+ years in claims or underwriting support, or Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 1+ years in relevant roles, or 4+ years in claims or underwriting support with Zurich certification, plus knowledge of lines of business, legal/regulatory guidelines, and Microsoft Office. Senior Level III: High School Diploma or equivalent with 5+ years in underwriting or market-facing roles, or 10+ years in claims or underwriting support, or Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 3+ years in relevant roles, or 8+ years in claims or underwriting support with Zurich certification, plus experience working under time constraints and in team environments. Preferred Qualifications (Both Levels):
Bachelor’s Degree Technical knowledge of Construction Professional Liability Underwriting Established broker relationships Sales mindset, creative problem-solving, strong communication skills Zurich offers competitive compensation, with a range of $75,000 - $165,000, depending on experience and level, plus potential bonuses.
